4 Tips for Maintaining your Glass Shower Screen
When it comes to increasing the longevity of your shower screens, and keep them looking their best, prevention is better than a cure.
Once dirt, grime and calcium etc etches into the glass surface it can be very difficult to remove.
- Switch to liquid soap
When the talc and paraffin in cake soap gets left on the glass, it mixes with bacteria, minerals from the water, body oils etc and forms soap scum. Whereas, liquid soap is glycerine-based and won’t cause the same build-up.
- Rinse glass down after each use and squeegee dry
Don’t let soap scum accumulate! Every time you’ve had a shower just takes a few moments to rinse the glass screen down and use a squeegee to dry it.
Keep the squeegee in the shower, or close by on a bathroom hook, so there’s no excuse!
Microfibre cloths can be used in place of a squeegee, if you prefer.
- Clean weekly with vinegar and dishwashing liquid
We’ve found a weekly clean with a mixture of white vinegar and dishwashing liquid can be an effective way to get your shower screens sparkling.
However, if you’ve got any marble surfaces in or around your shower, do not add vinegar to your cleaning mixture.
- Invest in EnduroShield
EnduroShield is a water repellent coating which helps to prevent dirt and grime from sinking into the glass surface. It also makes the cleaning process a bit easier.
If you have the professional technicians at Shower Enclosure Service apply the product it costs less than $200 (that’s less than the cost of 1 cup of coffee per week for a year!).
When our licensed professionals apply EnduroShield for you, we are also able to offer a 10-year warranty.
More information about EnduroShield can be found in our blog here.
