What are the differences between Framed and Frameless Shower Screens?
Apart from the overall look, the main difference lies with the glass used:
- Framed and semi frameless screens use 5 and 6mm clear toughened glass; whereas
- Frameless screens use a thicker, 10mm clear toughened glass.
Frameless screens, by design, will not stop all the water from escaping the shower cubicle.
In a semi-frameless option, the gaps between the panels of glass which allow the door to swing are reduced, therefore less water tends to escape from the vertical gap.
The semi-frameless screen also features a frame that runs along the floor to stop water running out of the shower cubicle. While there are seals that can be added to a frameless screen, if water escaping the shower cubicle is an issue, we recommend the option for a semi-frameless screen instead.
Framed showers have no gaps at all.
